Air Source Heat Pumps
Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) boast a range of benefits that will ultimately provide you with cost-effective, energy-efficient heating. With almost 30 years of experience as air source heat pump installers, you can leverage our expertise to simplify the switch and join the renewable revolution!
How ASHPs Work
Air source heat pumps work by using a compressor to pump a refrigerant through a series of coils. The refrigerant absorbs heat from the air outside and is then compressed, which causes it to heat up. This hot refrigerant is then passed through another set of coils, where it transfers its heat to the water used for heating the building.
If specifically designed and installed correctly, heat pumps can also act as an air conditioner in the summer. When the heat pump is in cooling mode, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the inside of the building and releases it outside, effectively cooling the building.
Air Source Heat Pump Installation
Installation requires an air source heat pump installers. It involves working with refrigerant and electrical systems. The process usually involves the following steps:
- Site assessment: The first step in installing an air source heat pump is to assess the site to ensure that it is suitable for the system. This includes checking the location of the outdoor unit, the availability of a power supply, and the size of the building.
- Design and planning: The next step is to design the system and create a plan for the installation. This includes selecting the appropriate size of heat pump and determining the location of the indoor and outdoor units.
- Preparation: Before the heat pump can be installed, any necessary preparations must be made. This may include digging trenches for the refrigerant lines, installing a foundation for the outdoor unit, and installing electrical wiring.
- Installation: The actual installation of the heat pump involves connecting the outdoor and indoor units, installing the refrigerant lines, and wiring the system to the building’s electrical system.
- Testing and commissioning: Once the heat pump is installed, it must be tested to ensure that it is operating correctly. Once your air source heat pump installers are satisfied with the system, we will commission it and provide you with full handover documentation which includes MCS certification, any relevant warranties, and instructions on how to optimise and maintain your system’s performance.
